American Heart Association CPR First Aid Certification
The AHA Heartsaver First Aid CPR AED course covers training and certification in first aid, CPR, and AED (automated external defibrillator) use for adults, children, and infants. This class meets OSHA requirements for CPR and First Aid training and certification. It is appropriate for initial certification and for CPR First Aid renewal certification.

- Medical emergencies
- Injury emergencies
- Environmental emergencies
- Preventing illness and injury
- CPR and AED use
- Opioid-associated life-threatening emergencies
This AHA CPR First Aid certification class is an in-person, instructor-led class. You may enroll to take this course in our classroom, or we can provide a private individual or group class at your location.

Prerequisites
None.
There is no minimum age requirement for this class. In fact, the AHA states, “The ability to perform CPR is based more on body strength than age. Studies have shown that children as young as nine years old can learn and retain CPR skills.” This 2009 study published in the Critical Care journal concludes, “Students as young as 9 years are able to successfully and effectively learn basic life support skills including AED deployment, correct recovery position and emergency calling.”
Intended Audience
This class is intended for non-medical personnel who require CPR, AED, and first aid certification for job, regulatory, or other requirements (e.g., teachers, babysitters, nannies, lifeguards, and those who work in schools, gyms, construction, electrical trades, vineyards, wineries, laboratories, manufacturing facilities, social work, community centers, recreational centers, etc.). This class is also appropriate for laypersons who desire CPR and first aid training, including children, young adults, and families.
This class is NOT intended for childcare providers working in a California licensed childcare facility. If you work in a CA licensed childcare facility, please enroll in our Pediatric CPR and First Aid class.
This class is NOT intended for healthcare providers or medical professionals. If you are a healthcare provider or training to be one, please enroll in our Basic Life Support (BLS) certification class.
