Online First Aid + First Aid Skills Session. AHA Heartsaver First Aid Certification.

American Heart Association First Aid Certification Class (Blended Learning)

This Blended Learning First Aid class is a hybrid learning course that consists of an online First Aid class followed by an in-person Skills Session with an AHA instructor. The Skills Session consists of a brief review followed by hands-on practice and demonstration of the skills learned during the online class.

 

Students receive an American Heart Association “Heartsaver First Aid” certification after completing the class.  This class is appropriate for both initial or renewal First Aid certification.

 

This course covers training and certification in first aid basics for the most common injuries and medical emergencies, including how to recognize them, how to call for help, and how to perform lifesaving treatment.

 

Our First Aid classes cover a range of essential topics, including:

  • First aid basics
    • Recognizing emergencies, calling for help, protective equipment, etc.
  • Medical emergencies
    • Stroke, heart attack, allergic reactions, EpiPen use, seizures, diabetic emergencies, asthma, drowning, etc.
    • Opioid-associated life-threatening emergencies
  • Injury emergencies
    • Bleeding control, tourniquet use, broken bones, burns, head/neck/spine injuries, etc.
  • Environmental emergencies
    • Heat-related illnesses, cold-related illnesses, poisoning, bites, stings, etc.
  • Preventing illness and injury
    • Lifting and moving techniques, identifying hazards, protective equipment, etc.

 

During the First Aid Skills Session, participants will have an opportunity to review and practice their hands-on first aid skills before running through several scenarios.

Intended Audience

This class is intended for non-medical personnel who require first aid certification for job, regulatory, or other requirements. This class is also appropriate for laypersons who desire first aid training, including young adults, children, and families. There is no minimum age requirement for this class.
